Villa Dubrovnik, Croatia

Overview

Overlooking the turquoise Adriatic towards Dubrovnik’s city walls, this five-star retreat, designed by Croatian architect Mladen Frka is built into a cliff and only a mile away from the stunning medieval city walls.

Set among pine, lemon and orange trees the accommodation at Villa Dubrovnik comprises 56 rooms, suites and villas all with private sea-view terraces. There’s a spa with an indoor pool, a beach and a gourmet restaurant. The white architecture and the minimalist modern interior design provide a stunning contrast to the rocky landscape and emerald green waters of the sea.

Food & Drink

Pjerin Restaurant is the hotel’s fine dining venue, featuring a contemporary dining room with outdoor terrace.  It’s arguably one of the best in the area and there’s an excellent choice of Croatian wine too. The à la carte breakfast is also served at Pjerin, with delights such as Eggs Julia.

There is also a stylish Al Fresco Prosciutto & Wine bar, and comfy Library Lounge.

Facilities

The large indoor pool has French doors. There are breathtakingly beautiful sea views from the floor-to-ceiling windows.  Hop along to the rocky beach, which has platforms for sunbathing and a five-step ladder to the sea.

Villa Spa uses organic Sodashi products for its facials and massages, and OPI nail lacquers for its pedicures and manicures. The Villa Spa Experience Massage Diamond offers the chance to test out the hotel’s ‘diamond bed’, which uses light, colour, sound and scents to stimulate the senses.

What’s to do in Dubrovnik?

Take the boat to the island of Lokrum, directly opposite the hotel and once the holiday home of Austrian nobility. A guide can introduce you to the botanical gardens and monastery.

The Dubrovnik Cable Car has been ferrying passengers up and down Mount Srd since 1969 and the bright orange cable cars are a frequent sight zipping above the hillside. The cable car is a lovely way to ascend the hill while enjoying the birds-eye views of Dubrovnik Old Town and the Adriatic.

Montenegro is a great day trip opportunity from Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik is a gem that should not be missed and there is only one place to stay.
