Missoma
Missoma; demi-fine jewellery
I already knew of the brand, so I was really excited to receive one of their beautiful items, the Pave Sphere Pendant Aegis Chain Bracelet and knew it deserved a mention.
Based in London, the brand was created in 2008 by Marisa Hordern, who started it from her kitchen table, after sourcing gemstones from Thailand, Hong Kong, Thailand, the US and India. Missoma believe in quality craftsmanship and sustainability, manufacturing with responsibly sourced metals, including recycled elements. Their main lines carry gold plated, gold vermeil, silver- plated, sterling silver as well as precious gemstones.
In 2018 and 2019 Missoma partnered with women’s environmental charity Treesisters. Vocal about its intention when it comes to being environmentally friendly and reducing its carbon footprint, Missoma committed to planting a tree at various locations from Madagascar to Nepal, for every Black Friday order placed. According to Marisa: ‘Treesisters is about empowering women and ‘seeding change’ for the environment.
The gorgeous Pave Sphere Pendant Aegis Chain Bracelet in gold is the item I picked out. I love stacking several pieces of jewellery together to create different looks. The simple statement thick chain is 18 carat gold plated. It’s such an easy piece to wear and something I will be able to wear it everyday, with any look. A gold chain is a really classic and timeless style so I know I will be wearing this for years to come. The bracelet really stands out and you can clip charms on for a completely different look but personally I prefer it as it is. The packaging is as luxe as you’d expect that also makes it highly giftable.
Two of its most famous fans are the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex, both of whom have worn Missoma jewels for many engagements. Kate donned a pair of rhodochrosite stone earrings and Meghan has worn quite a few pieces, from the bracelets to the rings, which she often layers up on. The brand has countless other famous fans, ranging from model Gigi Hadid to actress Margot Robbie – who wears their coin necklaces.
For many of us the affordable Missoma jewellery brings a little bit of luxury to everyday life – a concept which sounds particularly promising right now.
