Dyson AirWrap Multi-Styler Complete

The Dyson AirWrap is sending the beauty world into a spin. After seeing influencers such as Kate Hutchins using the new hair tool, I knew I had to try this new tool in a bit to help my fine, limpness hair a boost.

Four years after it was originally launched the Dyson have re-designed the tool claiming it will make styling hair quicker and easier than ever before.  Although I cannot compare it to any previous models as I am a newbie here is my review on the updated Dyson Airwrap multi- styler.

What makes the AirWrap so special? With a price tag of £479.99 is this a tool that will end up sitting in my cupboard and only coming out on special occasion I wonder.

Their claim ‘It is the only styler to curl, shape and hide flyaways using the Coanda effect- with no extreme heat’ Do I agree? Let’s see….

The Dyson Airwrap Multi- Styler comes with six different options for drying, curling, straightening and smoothing.  A blow- dry brush is included, along with the Coanda smoothing tool. There are three styling brushes, one of which has softer bristles and is gentler on the scalp- great for me as I have a sensitive scalp. Along with the main handle base, there are two curling barrels, a medium barrel for loose waves and a narrower one for creating tight curls.  The brushes have a new design that allows airflow through the centre of the paddle brush which amazingly I was able to create a bouncy blowout. The brand recommends using the cool shot at the end for 10 seconds to a ensure a style holds.

If I am being perfectly honest initially, I found it a little tricky to use. For curling, the AirWrap uses airflow to wrap the hair around the curling barrel; I recommend sectioning your hair before ‘pinching’ a section of hair hallway through the lengths which helps the AirWrap pull the ends of your hair in as it wraps around the barrel. After a few attempts I mastered it. The only downside is if you have fine hair like me don’t expect super- defined curls. I used a good amount of hairspray to hold the curls.

I was excited about the smoothing attachment, which is designed to get rid of any flyaways/ straighten the hair. I was impressed with how little time it took to smooth my hair with the drying and soft brush attachment. I was a massive fan of GHD’s as a teenager but the damage they did to my hair caused me to stop using them, but the Airwrap hasn’t had a negative impact on my hair. I should mention that I do still use a heat protective spray.

The tool is available in five colours: Vinca- Blue- Rose, Fuchsia/ Nickel, Prussian- Blue- Rich- Copper Copper/ Nickel and finally the colour I chose Nickel/ Copper.

As much as the price tag makes me squirm, I am so happy that I invested in this tool which has transformed my hair, great for adding mega volume to straight, thinner hair. I can even style my entire head in less than a half hour and no more trips to the salon.  I like that it uses less heat than standard curling wands or stylers, so hair breakage and split ends are less of a concern. The attachments are easy to change and the box to store the attachments ins cushioned with soft fabric and secured by a magnetic clasp; great for a clean freak and for when I am traveling.
